FACAC Bylaws

Mission

The mission of the Florida Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling (FACAC) is to provide numerous and various services and opportunities for counselors to enhance the effectiveness of their counseling skills and abilities in order to facilitate the healthy academic, social, emotional and career development of the children and adolescents in Florida. The Florida Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling (FACAC) is an organization composed first and foremost of Professional Counselors as recognized by CACREP and ACA, who subscribe to the standards and ethics of those professional organizations.

Vision

The Florida Association for Child and Adolescent Counseling (FACAC) supports the mission of professional counseling for those professionals who work with children and adolescents. Using diverse and innovative interventions, counselors encourage child/adolescent development in the area of personal, social/emotional, academic achievement, and career education.

FACAC supports the vision of the Florida Counseling Association (FCA) and serve the needs of its members through providing professional development, relevant information, advocacy, and networking opportunities. ​FACAC promotes forward thinking and encourages efforts to advance the profession of counseling.

Objectives

    • Meet the diverse and changing needs of child and adolescent counselors within the Florida Counseling Association.
    • Up holds the mission of the Florida Counseling Association in the context of working with children and adolescents in all counseling settings.
    • Collaborate with various organizations to promote professional counseling in all settings.
    • Present important information pertaining to counseling profession.
    • Encourages ethical and legal decision when working with children and adolescents.
    • Support and encourage legislative advancements to enhance the effects of counseling young people.
    • Unites all stakeholders through social and professional networking.
    • Provide opportunities for professional development and continuing education.

        FCA's 74th Annual Convention

        "Resilience Amidst the Storm"

        We are excited to be returning to an in-person venue this year!  This year’s convention will be held over the course of three days. On Thursday, we will offer a half-day of focused educational session. On Friday and Saturday we will have full days of educational sessions, round table presentations, and poster sessions focusing on this year's theme and improving counselor training, professional development and identity, and client care. 

        Pre-Convention. . . Thursday, September 28. . .  2 p.m. - 5 p.m. 

        Our theme is:  "Fostering the Resilience of LGBTQ Children, Adolescents and their Families."  This will be a training sponsored by Sunserve.  We will be offering 3 hours of continuing education.  For those interested in attending our Pre-Convention, there is an additional fee of $50.00.  This will be an optional added charge on our registration form.

        Convention. . . . Friday, September 29 through Saturday, September 30

        Starting on Friday, September 29, at 8:30 a.m. we will offer focused educational sessions with an afternoon hour (2:45 p.m. until 3:45 p.m.) provided to hear Poster Sessions or to participate in Roundtable presentations (1 CE available) or to visit our exhibitors!  On Friday, we will present our awards and hear Dr. Lotes Nelson, our Plenary speaker.

        Then we repeat it all again on Saturday with more great presentations and hear our Keynote Speaker, Dr. Christian D. Chan.

        Registration. . . .

        Your registration fee includes continuing education credits along with a lunch on Friday and Saturday.  On Pre-Convention day and Friday evening, light refreshments will be provided.


        For those who transferred their registration last year to this year's convention, you have been sent a promo code for registration purposes.  If you have any questions, please contact the FCA Office.  

        Registration fees are as follows:  

        Professional/Associate/1st Year Professional: $225

        Students: $175

        Retirees: $185

        Non-Member Professionals:  $275

        Non-Member Students:  $185

        Non-Member Retirees:  $195

        Hotel Accommodations. . . .

        Registration Cancellation Policy. . . .

          To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all attendees, please familiarize yourself with the following registration policy.  Your registration fee provides access to all convention activities, including plenary and keynote speeches, educational sessions, networking luncheons, and the exhibit hall.  Registration fees are non-refundable, except in the case of a natural disaster (e.g., a hurricane, flood, tornado) that significantly impacts your ability to attend the convention.  In such cases, a refund will be provided upon submission of a formal refund request along with appropriate documentation.  We understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and we are committed to supporting our participants to the best of our ability.

          Please note:

          • A refund of 50% of the registration fee will be provided if the request is made 30 days prior to the FCA Convention in the case of a natural disaster.
          • A refund of 25% of the registration fee will be provided if the request is made 15 days prior to the FCA Convention in the case of a natural disaster.

          We eagerly anticipate your active involvement and contribution at the upcoming event as we convene to exchange insights, acquire knowledge, and further the advancement of counseling within our state. Your well-being and conference experience are of utmost importance to us, and we look forward to hosting you at the 74th Annual Florida Counseling Association Convention.
