As the needs of students change, schools and how we serve students must also adapt. Florida Virtual School serves over 200,000 public, private and home school students in Florida. All school counselors must know the basics of virtual learning and how to best to support these non-traditional students.

During this presentation, we will discuss why many students turn to online learning and how school counselors can support these students in their schools.

Collaborating with teachers and community resources, FLVS school counselors employ many different types of technology to meet the social/personal, academic and career needs of every student.  We will cover how virtual school counselors advise and counsel students online. The session will provide case studies and showcase how online counselors provide a well-rounded, data-driven school counseling program.

Finally, during this presentation we will discuss tools that all school counselors can use to meet their student’s needs. From webinars, blogs, videos, social media, podcasts and more, we will discuss how traditional school counselors can use these tools as well to connect with their students in the digital age.
