Webinar Overview: This webinar sets context for future BIPOC faculty in counselor education webinars by exploring definitions and examining racism and its historic and present-day impact on mental health and well-being in counselor education. The webinar also identifies ways to recognize how racism operates in our systems, organizations and communities of counselor education and supervision. Finally, solutions and best practices on how to address issues of racism in counselor education will be discussed.

Learning Objectives: At the end of this interactive presentation attendees will be able to:

  • Identify the multiple levels on which BIPOC faculty experience racism.
  • Describe the physiological impacts of racism and discrimination on mental health of BIPOC faculty.
  • Explore the principles for and barriers to achieving racial equity in counselor education.
