A Message from FCA President, Cecilia Guyton:

Greetings all,

We have an exciting year ahead of us as we move continue to move our association forward.  In viewing our past year in a glimpse, we have had the opportunity to host a successful annual convention, host trainings/webinars and host webinars/trainings in collaboration with branch divisions.  We additionally have provided opportunities to network with colleagues at regional events.  Our divisions within the organization have also hosted a number of training events and webinars in an effort to increase a collegial atmosphere, connect with colleagues and continue to develop as professionals and counselors-in-training.  Finally, we’ve hosted a successful Leadership Development Institute (LDI) and Traumatology Symposium.  However, none of our successes would have been possible without the selfless contributions of our leaders, emerging leaders and members who volunteer their time, talents, expertise freely to support the Association and the counseling profession.

In continuing to move forward with the work of FCA, the contributions, efforts and visions of our now Past-Past President Anne Flenner and now Past-President Kristina Knight have been sincerely appreciated.  During this year, we will continue to serve our communities/members through trainings, webinars and other efforts by our divisions and regions to increase our visibility and attract new members.  Additionally, we will continue to collaborate with our branches in an effort to support our divisions and bring more awareness on a larger scale regarding a number of topics within the counseling profession.  Furthermore, we will also provide opportunities where members who are interested in leadership can have a chance to fulfill this professional goal.

Finally, as President during the 2018-2019 year a few goals that I would like to accomplish will be to increase the visibility of our association, attract new members, offer trainings/webinars in conjunction with branches, increase efforts to provide mentorship/opportunities to those members interested in moving into leadership roles and to provide a traumatology symposium as we have experienced another tragedy within our state.  However, these visions cannot come to fruition without the support of you all as members, leaders, emerging leaders and every position in between.  In conclusion, I look forward to collaborating with you and move our association and profession forward.

I am humbled and honored to serve as your president during this year and look forward to the events and we will have this year.

Cecilia L. Guyton, Ed.D., LMHC
