Dr. Lisa Lopez Levers is a Professor of Counselor Education and Supervision in the School of Education at Duquesne University and currently is in her 23rd year in academia and has worked in community mental health and private practice for 15 years.  Dr. Lopez Levers is a Fulbright Scholar with research projects involving the HIV/AIDS pandemic in southern Africa, the impact of trauma, loss, and bereavement on child development, including in educational settings and adult sequelae associated with early childhood trauma.  Currently she is working with colleagues in Africa to initiate a university-based Centre for Trauma Counselling and Healing.

This Symposium has been approved by the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family and Mental Health Counseling under Continuing Education Provider BAP #514 and the National Board of Certified Counselors Provider #2010.

Dr. Marilyn K. Volker, is a Diplomat of the American Board of Sexology and an Associate Fellow of The American Academy of Clinical Sexologists. With 37 years of experience in the field of sexology, Dr. Volker has served as sexuality consultant for a variety of addiction treatment facilities state and nationwide and has written articles addressing sexuality issues in recovery. She trains counselors to become sex therapists through the Florida Post-Graduate Sex Therapy Training Institute and The Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Sexology for Sex Therapists. She teaches in the sexuality programs for three medical schools.
