Structured play therapy is a common approach when counseling abused children. This webinar will describe a model of structured play that provides a framework for the appropriate timing and sequencing of structured play therapy interventions. This model helps counselors avoid the pitfall of selecting and pacing directive activities in a way that is inconsistent with the child’s needs.

Objectives of the Webinar:
1. Participants will learn an overview of structured play therapy.
2. Participants will understand the importance of appropriate sequencing of structured play therapy interventions.
3. Participants will learn how to assess the intensity of structured play therapy activities.
4. Participants will learn and apply the structured play therapy model to a case study.

About K. Dayle Jones:

K. Dayle Jones Ph.D., LMHC is Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Central Florida. She is a licensed mental health counselor and has been a counselor educator for 21 years. She has taught graduate courses in child abuse trauma, addictions counseling, assessment and DSM-5 diagnosis, as well as provided clinical supervision for students in both practicum and internship. Her clinical experience includes working in behavioral health settings with children, adolescent and adult survivors of child sexual abuse and intimate partner violence.
