Leading with Integrity, Listening with Courage: Supervision That Heals
This presentation challenges us to reimagine supervision not as a top-down exercise in compliance, but as a courageous space for equity, reflection, and liberation. Drawing on decolonizing frameworks, it invites participants to examine how power, history, and silence shape supervisory relationships — and what it takes to disrupt those patterns. Through honest dialogue and practical strategies, attendees will explore how to lead with integrity, listen with courage, and create supervision that truly honors the voices and experiences of those it serves. This is an invitation to move from safe spaces to brave ones — and to build a practice rooted in heart, humility, and transformative justice.
Learning Objectives
i. Identify how colonial and hierarchical legacies shape current supervision practices, and reflect on how power, silence, and institutional culture can either suppress or amplify the voices of those being supervised. ii. Apply at least two decolonizing strategies — such as critical self-reflection, co-creation of supervisory agreements, or naming power dynamics — to transform supervision into a more equitable, relational, and liberatory practice. iii. Commit to one actionable shift in your own supervisory or leadership approach that centers bold, authentic dialogue over compliance, and creates space for supervisees to speak with courage and be met with integrity.
